Hertford Tyres - Thumbs Up!

I had my 1st service on Saturday, at Hertford Tyres...

...Dave came in on his day off to do it for me!

Whist there I also got DOT 5.1 brake fluid and EBC "yellowstuff" front pads - which I highly recommend by the way - the brakes feel more "progressive" now, and stop harder than before when needed. Not fully "run in" yet though.

Dave even found the time to fix a couple of annoyances too, like a wobbly side repeater and the most recent (and massively annoying) dash rattle. That was worth the trip alone!

Even though it was a 220 mile round trip, I had a great day, got all the jobs done, at a great price too!

Things I wasn't expecting, but made the day better - seeing Dave strugging with his side scoops  , meeting Mini Mustang Mad 8-) , and seeing the 1958 (?) Chevy Impala snapping it's own suspension when brake testing for MOT :o , oh and the bacon baguette too!

All in all, if you need it sorted, go see Dave. ;)

I can only say that Dave has been very helpfull to me too by helping me through the forum.

Wished would be closer to get my brakes sorted but almost 4 hours away.

Thanks Dave.

Eduardo.

no worries phil

take the rear pads out and the silver pads that they sit on

wire brush them and the caliper housing up

take a file and file the edge of the brake pads where it comes in contact with the caliper as its very uneven and covered in paint, only need to make them flat so dont go mad

little bit of copper grease on each bit where it comes in contact pad to caliper housing
put back together

press brake 10 times

put wheels on and do hand brake turns to wow the crowd

hope that helps

and as normal im now embarressed and i dont deserve it at all
i just do what i do and try and make sure its how i would want to be treated if i was a customer, and my builders know how demanding i am

thans guys as per normal
:pray :syda

no worries phil

should take about 30 mins per side, from memory you will need a 12 mm spanner for the calipers, it maybe 13 as the fronts one size and the rears the other

...and all for his fixed fee of £40 plus VAT. Go Dave! Of course, he'd charge more if he had opposable thumbs and could type using capitals. ;)

What's two hourly feeds every night? I'll tell you what they are...exhausting.... for Claire.... once she's finished the brickwork out the back and mown the lawns. She complained about the C-section but as I pointed out "it's barely a flesh wound".

Seriously though, there comes a time when you're just too old for this lark. For me, that was about 1988.
