Cue weeks of scouring the forums for info and getting up to date with what's happening in the land of the S197.
And then I saw the £40 service from Dave's Hertford Tyres and Exhausts. Always with an eye for a bargain I booked the car in the same day. Well, after the 260 mile round trip, all I can say is that is the best £40 quid I have ever spent.
Joking aside, what started as a purchase for some new indicator lenses morphed into a full service and all I can say is what fantastic service. Dave is a top top guy and will really look after you without lifting your leg. I basically went for the full monty, brake fluid change, air con charged etc etc and for once the service work had a noticeable effect on the car e.g. I froze my nu*** off and the brake pedal feel is night and day now, I even think my mpg's getting better. That can't be true can it?
Dave even had time to properly align my Muff Diver exhausts which had been fitted, at considerable expense I might add, by another respected mustang garage who had made a right pigs ear of the fitment resulting in, from behind, a cross eyed squint. The trip was worth getting that fixed alone!!! Anyone else here who could have lived with that for two years?? I hang my head in shame.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Pete aka Jainser who turned up with his stunning Bullit, pictures do not do these cars justice and Pete's replete with 20" Bullits was gorgeous. For the first time in a long time, I think since Trefor Jenkins from next door got the Captain Scarlett SPV vehicle for Xmas, I had pangs of envy. Lovely, lovely car.
Oh, I almost forgot, included with every service is a special trip in Dave's Mustang. For this I recommend rubber pants with industrial strength elastic, I did not know Mustangs can be made to go this fast and handle so well. Truly awesome!!
